About This Program

A federal tax credit of up to $7,500 for purchasing a new qualifying battery electric, fuel cell, or plug-in hybrid vehicle assembled in North America. The credit can be applied at the point of sale as a dealer discount, subject to MSRP caps and income limits.

Key Requirements & Eligibility

  • 1Vehicle must be new and assembled in North America
  • 2MSRP cap: $80,000 for trucks/vans/SUVs; $55,000 for other vehicles
  • 3Income limits: $300,000 MFJ / $225,000 HOH / $150,000 single (MAGI)
  • 4Battery critical mineral sourcing requirements must be met
  • 5Buyer cannot claim credit for another vehicle in same year
