About This Program

Funds replacement or retrofit of older diesel engines in trucks, marine vessels, locomotives, and off-road equipment to reduce NOx, PM2.5, and air toxics emissions, particularly in communities near ports and freight corridors.

Key Requirements & Eligibility

• 1Equipment must be a diesel engine used in commerce, government, or nonprofit operations
• 2Priority given to fleets operating in or near air quality non-attainment areas
• 3Eligible: Class 5–8 trucks, marine engines, locomotive engines, off-road equipment
• 4Funding up to 40% of project cost for for-profit fleets; 100% for nonprofits and government
• 5Old engine must be scrapped or rendered permanently inoperable
• 6Applications accepted by state agencies or directly through national competitive grants
